This tostada, with a bag of Fritos and a bottle of beer was my first crocheting project. I used a n-8 hook, the cheapest acrylic yarn I could find and the same simple stitch that my mother-in-law, Eda Bea, taught me. I made 140 individual beans, two jalepenos, an orange tortilla, some lettuce and tomatoes to create this art piece that was put on display at the Los Angeles Art Museum for a month in 1975. It was part of a show on Chicano art.
